Welcome to Istros

where comfort meets style, and classic meets eclectic

We serve Modern Greek food, meaning we may serve the Greek classics, but with a twist. Maybe it’s a Moussaka that is prepared individually and slightly different to the norm, or an avocado tzatziki that’s used instead of the traditional tzatziki, or maybe it’s a non-Greek dish like Fish n’ Chips that has a Greek twist to it. For more information on our specific dishes please see our recommendations and menu pages. Whether you’re looking for a traditional “meze” style dinner, a three course meal, vegan dishes, gluten free dishes or simply just an ice-cream sundae or dessert, we believe our menu has something for everyone. Our waiters are always more than happy to offer recommendations and help you decide which dishes best suit your tastes, mood and dietary requirements. A children’s menu is available for children under the age of 11 and high chairs are available upon request.

Our restaurant boasts a large indoor and outdoor dining area with a small seating area situated next to the garden.  We have a capacity of 280 people, however, in line with recent restrictions placed on the hospitality industry to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 this has been reduced to 120.  At present there are 30 tables in the restaurant so we do recommend booking during peak season.

We possess a full alcohol licence and the bar area serves an extensive range of drinks including cocktails, wines, craft beers, spirits and teas and coffee. You are more than welcome to join us for just a drink or dessert, however, we may have to seat you on the sofas or armchairs during dinner rush hours.

We host live music events twice weekly where customers can enjoy a relaxed, acoustic session of traditional and local Greek music performed by local talent. These events can get very busy so we always recommend booking in advance.

The restaurant is wheelchair and pram accessible with a large entrance and there is also a disabled toilet and baby change.

We do not have a dress code as we want our customers to feel comfortable, whether that be in a pair of trainers or in a tux, anything goes. However, we do not allow customers to dine in the evening wearing swimming clothes. We request all diners cover up the top part of their body, diners without shirts or tops will not be permitted entrance.
